Our program focuses on fundamental skill development, teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship above all else. Choose Your Division Beginner: Perfect if your child is brand new to basketball, trying their first sport, or most comfortable starting with the basics. Advanced Beginner: Ideal for players with a few years of experience or athletic kids ready for a faster pace. (Still a rec league focused on fun and growth!) 4th Grade Note: 4th graders fit into either level! Choose the division that best matches your child's skill, experience, and comfort. Season & Schedule Highlights Practices: Kick off the week of Jan. 4! Each team gets 1 guaranteed weeknight practice (60–75 mins), with options for a 2nd practice M–F at various HVS schools. Saturday Game Days: Action starts Jan. 9 and wraps up by March 6 so spring sports stay open! (Games take place between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM; specific times announced in late December). Winter Break Off: No games on Feb. 13 so families can enjoy HVS winter break. Parent-Friendly Update: No score table duty! HV Rec and Ed provides 2 paid scorekeepers per game so you can sit back and cheer on your player. Equal Playing Time: We prioritize fair rotations so every player gets maximum time on the hardwood. Details: Tryouts - Early Tryouts will be in July 2026. If we still need to fill teams after the early tryouts, then we'll host another tryout this Fall. If you are unable to make it on the original dates still register and we'll contact you about a make up option. Girls U10 - no tryouts, register if interested in participating. Season Dates - U11s - U14s: December - March (a few teams may choose to run December - April/May, details available at tryouts) Age Groups - see age cutoffs below to confirm your age group. Girls - U10s (3rd and 4th Grade), U11s (5th Grade), U12 (6th Grade), U13 (7th Grade), U14 (8th Grade), U15 (9th grade) Practices - Will begin in December 2026. Exact dates will be determined at a later date. Each team will practice 2x a week. Tournaments - Winter Teams/Short Season - will play in approx 6 - 1 day AAU Tournaments. Events will run Jan-March. Extended Season Teams - will play in several 1 day events plus several multi-day events (like Motor City Madness, Can-Am, etc) Uniforms - we will have a uniform for the players including a jersey, shorts, socks and kneepads. Bump, Set, Spike! Outdoor Grass Volleyball League Get ready for summer fun on the court! Whether your player is picking up a volleyball for the first time or looking to sharpen their skills, our co-ed in-house league offers a supportive, high-energy environment for all skill levels. Players will build fundamentals during weekly practice and put their skills to work during exciting Wednesday night matches! Program Highlights: Format: Co-ed league for new and returning players. 4 week league with 1 make up date option. Schedule: Wednesday night skills sessions from 5-5:45 p.m., followed by matches (1 or 2 matches) at 6 and/or 7 p.m. Coach Courtney Rudolph will be leading the skills sessions with the team coaches helping to execute the practice plan designed by Coach Courtney. Team Formation: Assigned based on registrations received. If you have a young/small/new incoming 6th grader, you can choose to play in the 4-6 age group. If you have a 6th grader who has played before/athletic/ok playing with 7th/8th graders, then sign them up for the 6-8 grade group. Important Registration Details: Payment Info: Registration is $129, but you won't be charged until July 1. Please complete all registration steps (including payment info) to lock in your spot. Ready to get in the game? We’re thrilled to bring you another high-energy youth soccer program through our partnership between HV Rec & Community Ed and the Carls Family YMCA! Program Overview When: Wednesday nights throughout July Where: Typically held at the YMCA (Subject to change to Oak Valley Center based on field maintenance schedules) Included in Fees: Official team t-shirt, refs, lead coaches, and field equipment. Player Gear: Families provide soccer socks and shin guards. Payment Date: Team fees will be charged on July 1st. Age Divisions & Game Schedules Ages 4–5 Division Format: 25-minute practice followed by a 30-minute game. Game Times: 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM on Wednesday evenings. Ages 6–8 | 8–10 | 10–12 Divisions Format: 45 minutes of skills, drills, and player development led by a Lead Coach, followed by 45 minutes of action-packed small-sided games (e.g., 3v3 or 4v4). Schedule: Wednesdays from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM. Volunteer Coaches Needed! Make a difference on the field!
