Beginner - if your child is brand new to basketball or if this is their first sport experience or if you just feel your child would be most successful at the beginner level, please register for Beginner. Advanced Beginner - if your child has been playing for a few years and has some skills already developed or if they are an athletic child who will do just fine with kids who have been playing for a few years, please sign them up for Advanced Beginner. Each team will be assigned 1 guaranteed practice and some teams may choose to add a 2nd practice M-F for 60-75 minute increments at various HVS schools ~Games will be played on Saturdays starting January 11 and we will aim to end by March 15 (to avoid conflicts with spring sports schedules, as long as we don't have any weather cancellations). We strive to create an environment where players will experience equal playing time or as close to equal as possible. If teams are more or less than 10 players, that is not always possible, but over the course of the season the playing time should be equal or close to equal. The games are listed on the schedule, but the times won't be known until late December. Games could be anytime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (depending on the size of the division). The final 2 weekends of the season will include a Tournament (2 game minimum) so your team may have multiple games on March 7/8 and/or March 14/15. There will no games on Jan 18 and Feb. 15 (due to HVS long weekends); Team pictures will be TBD. HV Rec and Ed will now provide 2 paid scorekeepers per game so parents no longer have to help at the score table Register 2 or more children for the HV United Basketball league and receive a $5 discount for each additional child. HVS Middle School Inter-School Boys Basketball LeagueYouth Basketball Leagues (Future Stars/HV United/Inter-School Boys)Join us for this brand new league for 6th-8th graders to play for their school. This is for players who did not make the middle school team this fall OR chose not to try out. This will allow these boys a chance to still play for their school, but in an intramural setting. This program is NOT part of the intramural programs sponsored by the schools, this is a separate program offered through HV Rec and Ed! We will allow 1 non-HVS team to join as well so we have an even 4 teams for games. Each team will consist of 10-12 players from their school. Registration will close Oct 23, by then everyone should know if your child made the middle school team or not. Registration fees will not be collected until October 25, that way if you register now and your child makes the team, you do not have to pay the fee until tryouts are completed. We would like to secure 2 coaches per team and in lieu of paying the coaches, we will waive the entire registration fee for each coach for their time. If you are interested in being a coach for one of these teams, please respond accordingly during registration. If we are able to secure a non-parent coach, we will compensate them for their time. Scholarships are available, as needed as well. Please contact us at Shannon.Loso@hvs.org for those details. Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. or 7:30-9 p.m. at your home school and games will be on Monday or Wednesday night at one of the HVS middle schools. The plan is to host a playoff on the final night of play, all 4 teams will play 2 games. The winners of the first game will play for 1st and 2nd and the losers of the first game will play for 3rd and 4th.Fall 2024
