You’ll learn how to strategically place the ball to gain an advantage, improve serve depth and power, and add effective spin to keep your opponents guessing.” “Mastering Dinks” (7/15): Refine your soft game and gain the upper hand! In this skills class, we will focus on precise ball placement, smart dink strategy and effective dink spin variations.     Archery - Beginner

    Beginner class for archery introduces future archers to the basics of shooting a bow so they can take the first steps to learning the art. It covers the overall rules for range safety, equipment usage, and the proper form of archery. Practice is essential with the opportunity for games suggested by the instructor or anyone from the class. This would be a 4-week class with equipment and shooting range time included. Every week the archer will work on safety, techniques, and skills so they can move forward within the sport. The course will cover the 11 shooting steps in Archery. Coaching by USA Level 3 instructor will be provided (participants are allowed to use their own equipment).

    Archery - Intermediate

    After completing Beginner Archery, the students can register for Intermediate Archery. This class enables individuals to build blocks on what was learned in the beginner class as a result individuals will experience various types of competitive archery such as Olympic FITA style targets and scoring, NFAA targets and scoring, 3D targets and scoring, and more. This would be a 6-week class with equipment and shooting range time included. Every week the archer will work on safety, techniques, and skills so they can move forward within the sport. The course will cover the 11 shooting steps in Archery with focus on use of sights and back tension to execute shots. Coaching by USA Level 3 instructor will be provided (participants are allowed to use their own equipment).

  • Gymnastics- Advanced/Preteam

    Huron Valley Gymnastics is a recreational and competitive gymnastics program that offers classes to children ages 18 months-18 years. We offer fun, safe and affordable gymnastics for those looking to compete or learn a cartwheel. Staff consists of coaches with backgrounds in education, cheer, dance and gymnastics. Girls and boys are welcome in our toddler/preschool and school age programs. Toddler-Preschool Gymnastics- For boys and girls ages 18 months-4 years old. Students will get their first experience with the wonderful sport of gymnastics. Balance, strength, coordination, flexibility and confidence are just a few of the concepts we will work on. We will use all pieces of gymnastics equipment as well as fun preschool equipment. Parents may accompany child in the class. School Age / Recreational Gymnastics- For boys and girls ages 5-14 years old. Gymnasts will be instructed on all pieces of equipment. Strength, balance, flexibility, body awareness and confidence are all concepts we will work on. Beginning- Stretching, body positions, forward and backward rolls, handstand, cartwheel, bridge and skills on equipment will be worked on. If you can't do a cartwheel yet, this is the class for you. Intermediate- We will work on the skills listed for the Beginning class and start working on back walkovers as well as more difficult skills on equipment. Advanced- Gymnasts should be able to do a back walkover on the floor and working back handspring. This is our most advanced class before our competitive team.

    Join us this Fall for our second annual HV Rec and Ed Scholarship Fund Pickleball Tournament! This event will raise money for our scholarship fund which helps families, who need assistance, afford our programs (youth enrichment, youth recreation and special event programs). Come out and help us raise money to help local families and have fun playing pickleball at the same time! Please register as a pair. We will offer different divisions for different skill levels.   • HV United Basketball League (Boys) - Spring Middle/High School

    HV United Basketball League is an in-house league that provides the opportunity for students to learn and play basketball in a recreational setting. Our program focuses on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship and FUN! This recreational program utilizes volunteers for coaching (this volunteer will likely be a parent). ~Practices scheduled to start the week of March 31. Each team will be assigned 1 M-F for 60-90 minute increments at various HVS schools ~Games will be played on Saturdays starting April 5 and we will be done by Memorial Day (no games on April 19 due to Easter). HV Rec and Ed will now provide 2 paid scorekeepers per game so parents no longer have to help at the scoretable. Register 2 or more children for the Basketball league and receive a $5 discount for each additional child. Discounts applied at checkout. Parents/guardians who volunteer to coach will receive a discount on their child's registration fees. This will be refunded back AFTER we confirm who the coaches will be for the season.   • HV United Volleyball Club: Tryouts

    HV United Volleyball Club entering its 4th season and is brought to you by HV Rec and Community Ed. To learn more about the club such as coaches, bios, fees, etc, click HERE. Details: Tryouts - Early Tryouts will be in July 2025. If we still need to fill teams after the early tryouts, then we'll host another tryout this Fall. If you are unable to make it on the original dates still register and we'll contact you about a make up option. Boys Tryouts - held later this summer/fall Girls U10 - no tryouts, register if interested in participating. Season Dates - U11s - U14s: December - March (a few teams may choose to run December - April/May, details available at tryouts) Age Groups - see age cutoffs below to confirm your age group. Girls - U10s (3rd and 4th Grade), U11s (5th Grade), U12 (6th Grade), U13 (7th Grade), U14 (8th Grade), U15 (9th grade) Boys - TBD Practices - TBD, for the 2025/2026; teams will practice 2x a week. This is an ideal follow-up to the “Instant Piano” class and is open to anyone who has a basic understanding of chords on any instrument. Expand your musical horizons, and free yourself from sheet-music dependence, and be the life of the party! Prior experience with chords recommended. Fee includes the online book, online follow-up lessons, a recording of the class and an optional monthly question and answer session. Class is held online using zoom.

Come in and get started with this introductory obedience course going over all of the essential behaviors and solutions to common problems that you and your dog might need. We use proven effective force free training methods rooted in the science of animal behavior to help you communicate effectively with your dog. Training will include: Eye contact, Sit, Down, Extensive Leash walking, Drop it, Leave it, Go to a bed, Waiting at a door and 2 separate recalls. We will also cover common problem behaviors in detail such as Jumping, Barking, Digging, Object stealing and chewing, Play Biting and much more. The last week of class could include an AKC Puppy Star test or Canine Good Citizen test. Please do NOT bring your dog for the first week. The instructor will be reviewing a lot of information that first week that is just meant for you, not your pet. Please bring proof of vaccinations to first class.

  • Intro to Sports Officiating

    The Michigan High School Athletic Association has partnered with an online education system called RefReps. HV Rec and Community Ed is offering this officiating training for anyone ages 14 and older to get trained and certified to become an MHSAA official. There will be online training tools as well as in person lessons where students will get hands on training. HV Rec and Ed will also be offering jobs to officiate in the various leagues offered throughout the year. Wages are competitive and work schedules are flexible to work around busy school/sports/life schedules. This program will offer training in basketball, volleyball and soccer as the primary sports, but there will be options for students to get trained in any of the 13 offerings. The online training is interactive and provides "real life" examples from the official's perspective in live games. Course Fee: $75/sport (basketball, soccer and volleyball)- this includes online training, in person training, MHSAA license once the student successfully passes the course and lifetime access to the resources. All other sports will be $50/sport because it will ONLY be the online training, no hands on included.
  • Junior Golf Academy

    Mystic Creek’s Junior Golf Academy, open to players ages 6 to 14, will be held Wednesday mornings. The academy, which will be divided into three age groups, will provide instruction and the basic rules, processes, routines and techniques of the game, giving young golfers the tools they need to play and enjoy the game. Each week instructors will cover different facets of the game. Participants should arrive 10 minutes prior to scheduled instruction time, and will be expected to follow guidelines for safety and be courteous of other participants. Our Junior Golf Academy will conclude with a tournament on July 23, followed by an awards luncheon. Equipment Needed for Week 1: Players will need their own bag, clubs, balls and tees. Golf shoes or tennis shoes only; no cleats, please. For the safety of all participants, golfers should not swing their club until the instructors have given approval.   • Junior Golf League (Ages 10-15)

    Mystic Creek’s Junior Golf League. Golfers will play nine holes each Tuesday, walking the course and playing multiple formats. Pull carts are allowed, but not included in the cost. Golfers must bring their own bag, clubs and additional equipment. Previous experience is preferred. In partnership with Mystic Creek Golf Course. The Junior Golf League will play 9 holes on the final day with luncheon. Weekly Schedule: 6:45 a.m. Players arrive, go to the putting green. 6:50 a.m. Tips at the practice putting green. 7 a.m. Pairings announced and scorecards distributed. 7:10 a.m. Players report to starting holes. 7:15 a.m. Play begins all at the same time. 9:15 a.m. Players complete their round and return to the putting green. 9:30 a.m. Players turn in their scorecards. Various art mediums offered to freely create including, alcohol-based markers, micron pens, pastels, mixed media collage, watercolor, acrylic paint, and more! This club will be evolving along with its members! A sketch book is recommended, and all other materials will be provided.
  • LHS Girls Basketball Youth Camp

    Instruction for this camp with be provided by Lakeland's varsity girls basketball coach, Michael Leitheim, his staff, as well as current and former girls basketball players at Lakeland. This camp is open to any girl, incoming K-9 graders, and will focus on skill development on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. This camp will give participants an opportunity to learn more about the game while interacting with new people. T-shirt is included in the fee.

    This 3 day camp is open to any ability level for girls interested in volleyball. Instruction for this camp will be provided by Lakeland's coaching staff. This camp will introduce and teach the major skills for volleyball: passing, setting, attacking, defense, serve and serve receive. Campers will work hard (please send water with your player). This camp is available for the following age groups: Incoming 1st-5th grade players (based on Fall 2025 grades) Incoming 6th-8th grade players (based on Fall 2025 grades) Incoming 9th-12th grade players (based on Fall 2025 grades) Registration fees will be charged on 7/1 for all courses starting after 7/1.

    This camp is for all players - incoming Freshman-Seniors (current 8-11 graders).Incoming 9th and current 9-11th grade football players Install Camp is a must to be on the same page for this new beginning. We will go through scheme, philosophy and strategy that is vital to results. This camp will start the summer and have players ready to learn the game, effort and process. T Shirt provided. All players that haven’t yet picked up a helmet, please show as early a s possible after school on the 8th. Helmets, cleats, tennis shoes and gallon of water needed and a snack. There will be a break in the day.
