United Soccer Rec League - Co-EdUnited Soccer LeagueLearn the fundamentals of soccer as well as the importance of teamwork through Youth Soccer. Everyone plays and everyone is part of the team. Kids develop important soccer skills, including passing, dribbling, shooting and working as a team in a fun and supportive environment. Not only will children have an opportunity to advance skills, but they'll also build social skills, gain confidence and develop leadership skills. Dedicated volunteer coaches are trained to set expectations and help kids find their strengths and improve. This is a co-ed league. Ages 4-5: Practice 25 minutes and Play 30 minutes on Saturday mornings. Practices: Begins week of Sept 8 assigned 1practice/week (coaches will select practice days, Mon-Fri starting at 6 or 6:30 p.m.) Games: Sat. Sept 13-Oct 18 assigned 1 or 2 games/week, depending on the number of teams in each division. (Location: Carls Family YMCA or Oak Valley MS), game times will be between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Divisions: Ages 6-8 and 8-11; if you have younger/smaller/newer players who are 8 years old, we suggest registering for the 6-8 division; if you have more mature/developed/experienced 8 year old then we suggest the 8-11 year old division. Divisions: Middle School Division -new format, still a rec league. Coaches Meeting @ TBD Volunteer Coaches will receive a 25% discount on team fees (applied AFTER registration) Team Pictures will be on TBD (rain or shine) @ the YMCA/Oak Valley before/after your game that day. Team fees will include uniform jersey. Other needed equipment will need to be provided by the families (soccer socks and shin guards). Balls/cones/pinnies/other equipment is available for teams to share on site. Free/Reduced Lunch and Multi-child discounts apply. Pink Out Game on Saturday, Oct 11! Last year was our first year running this event and it was a huge success! More details to follow but you can order yourself a Pink Out shirt to wear that day! Intro to Sports OfficiatingAdult RecreationThe Michigan High School Athletic Association has partnered with an online education system called RefReps. HV Rec and Community Ed is offering this officiating training for anyone ages 14 and older to get trained and certified to become an MHSAA official. There will be online training tools as well as in person lessons where students will get hands on training. HV Rec and Ed will also be offering jobs to officiate in the various leagues offered throughout the year. Wages are competitive and work schedules are flexible to work around busy school/sports/life schedules. This program will offer training in basketball, volleyball and soccer as the primary sports, but there will be options for students to get trained in any of the 13 offerings. The online training is interactive and provides "real life" examples from the official's perspective in live games. Course Fee: $75/sport (basketball, soccer and volleyball)- this includes online training, in person training, MHSAA license once the student successfully passes the course and lifetime access to the resources. All other sports will be $50/sport because it will ONLY be the online training, no hands on included.Year Long 24-25
